PhD workMy core work in the Gravity Group is on scalar-tensor theories of gravity. Basically, I mix a dark scalar field with spacetime to come up with an understanding of how the Universe may have formed way back in the past and evolved to its present state. At the same time, introducing a scalar field on cosmological distances can leave behind observational astrophysical imprints and so I also check whether black holes can be fashioned with hair in scalar-tensor theories. My results are discussed in my PhD thesis "Compact Objects, Cosmologies, and Gravitational Perturbations in Scalar-Tensor Theories of Gravity". Thesis poster on the right.
